INCI: Potassium Sorbate
Mixing ratio 1 : 5 (20% solution means: 1 part potassium sorbate granulate and 4 parts water).
If you want to use the granulate directly, the concentration is 0.1 - 0.26%.
The preservative effect of potassium sorbate is optimal at a pH value of 4 - 5.5. The effect is neutralised at a pH value of 7 or higher! It is recommended to acidify products that are too alkaline, for example with citric or lactic acid. Basically, the successful application of potassium sorbate depends very much on the skill of the user and careful trials are therefore advantageous. Please check the ph-value and make a series of experiments with different concentrations of potassium sorbate.
It is best to work in potassium sorbate at hand heat, then correct the pH with lactic or citric acid if necessary.
