In order to maintain its suppleness and elasticity the skin needs a certain amount of water as well as fats. The epidermis contains water soluble moisture binding substances which are identified as NMF for analytical purposes. Our NMF builds on to the water binding properties of the lactatepyroglutaminate-complex.
The most important components of this are the sodium salt of the DL 2 Pyrrolidine-5 Carboxylic (corresponds to sodium PCA) and the sodium lactate.
In comparison with other moisturising factors (such as Sorbitol, 1.2 Propylene Glycol and Glycerol), our NMF demonstrates substantially better moisture absorption.
